Rayne Swan Melee 7th May 2017

Despite the low attendance an enjoyable day was had at the Rayne Swan melee and even the sun came out to warm everybody up.

Ken Kilbey and Janet Newton won all their morning games as did Keith Flack and Carolyn Acland.

Colin Sams and Terry Williams lost all their morning games but did win their final game against Kilbey and Newton, who were unbeaten up to that point.

Clare Courtney and Dee Austin won 2 and lost 2 but scraped into the playoffs at the expense of Terry Whiting and Geoff Cockwell.

Jenny Suckling and Ben Tofts won their 1st game and then struggled, losing 4-13, 3-13 and 5-13.

The unbeaten Flack and Acland took on Kilbey and Newton in the playoffs and continued their good form to win 13-2 and take the top prize.

In the 3rd and 4th place playoff Courtney and Austin were up against Jon Sellar and Matt Bainbridge. The latter had lost their 1st game to the eventual winners but then went through the day unbeaten. Although they trailed in the final, perseverance saw them through to a 13-11 win to finish 3rd.

Prizes were presented by Colin Sams, RS Chairman.
