Rayne Swan Doubles 16th October 2016

The Rayne Swan Petanque Club held their annual doubles competition on Sunday and luckily the rain held off for the event.

Twenty teams took part, starting off in 5 groups of 4, and after 3 games each in the morning, went to KO in the afternoon.

Surprise performance of the day was Fadi Brahmi and Geraldine Garret who were in the Main competition after finishing top of their group and went on to reach the semi-finals. They finally lost to the eventual winners Keith Flack and Sean Prendergast.

Flack & Prendergast were in top form and defeated Jack Blows and Ross Jones 13-0 in the final.
Flack's accurate pointing was backed up by Prendergast's impressive shooting, which gave their opposition no opportunities to get into the game.

The Plate final was won by Viv and Colin Sams against Daryl Tapfield and Alan Pike from Stevenage. The Sams husband and wife team from the Swan were untroubled in the final and won 13-3.

In the Consolage final the Weathersfield pair of Geoff Cocks and Eric Smith played very well to lead 11-8 against Karl Scott and Carole Harding. But the latter came back well to snatch the game 13-11 to take the prizes.
